FEDERATION AFFILIATION: While performing this position you are a member of the Ontario Secondary School teachers Federation representing the District 18 Teachers Bargaining Unit. Union dues will apply.
RATE of PAY: $62.66/hour
JOB SUMMARY:
To support belonging and connectedness summer mental health services will be provided through therapeutic groups which will be codelivered by Social Workers and community service providers. All groups will be staffed and supervised by UGDSB teachers.
As part of our summer mental health and wellness planning identityspecific mental health supports are prioritized for our Indigenous Black and 2SLGBTQIA students and students referred to specialized teams. Summer mental health supports are meant to be a continuation of service over the summer months and support to transition into a new school year for those currently receiving support from board mental health staff.
Groups will be formed based on the grades that the students will be going into in September. Based on enrolment numbers and student need the summer mental health team will make the final determinations around group services to be offered and final dates. Enrolment volumes may necessitate changing groups and group formations and options.
***Teachers are required for the following positions during the month of July. Teachers will be responsible for following the UGDSB field trip policy and procedures including the supervision of students on the bus and during the field trip program.
REQUIREMENTS:
Member in good standing with OCT
Special Education Part 1 (specialist preferred)
Experience working with inrisk students with complex needs in multidisciplinary environments

Students aged 816 will be welcomed to TUFF Equine Therapy in Loretto On. Participants will be paired with a horse to explore a variety of topics. On day 1 the group will focus on understanding others working as a team and learning another language (communicating with horses). On day 2 the group will explore communication finding their voice among others and listening effectively and with day 3 they will explore leadership advocating for yourself and others and teamwork.
DCAFS Summer Music and Art Therapy Program for students with Neurodiversity

Camp Create!! This camp will include a combination of art music and creative activities that will allow children/youth to foster positive peer relationships while having fun! Activities will be focused on promoting positive mental health and wellbeing. Students aged 1113.
This camp will be facilitated by a Certified Art Therapist and a Certified Music Therapist.
Animal and Farm Assisted Mental Health Therapy for Students at Fiddleheads Care Farm

Fiddlehead Care Farm will offer a therapeutic group to students coping with anxiety and depression social difficulties and negative selfesteem.
Students will connect with the animals and farming process to develop selfconfidence self regulation skills and explore social connections.

Students Grade 38. Animal assisted therapy at Sunrise Stables is for students struggling with anxiety self regulation and may benefit from learning to build social emotional skills selfconfidence and regulation strategies through animal assisted therapy with horses.
