You will possess a Nova Scotia Certificate of Qualification (Carpentry) or a Journeyman Red Seal qualification (carpentry). You also need a minimum of five (5) years of related foreman/leadership experience in commercial and institutional construction. You will be participating with installation trouble shooting and maintenance of all types of architectural systems and assemblies. Previous superintendent experience would be considered an asset as you will be working alongside and collaborating with other trade teams such as electrical and mechanical.

As the successful candidate you have a working knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada; National Fire Code of Canada; the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Occupational Safety General Regulations.

You will also have a good working knowledge of current construction safety practices and procedures; strong leadership qualities and supervisory abilities; the ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings; problemsolving and decisionmaking skills; planning and organizational skills; strong public relations/customer service skills; good verbal and written communication. The successful applicant will have computer proficiency in various software programs including Word Excel Outlook Microsoft Suite andthe ability to work within financial constraints and experience working with a variety of power tools and machinery.

Assets for this position include knowledge of government procurement policy and tendering procedures.

We will assess the above qualifications using one or more of the following tools: written examination standardized tests oral presentations interview(s) and reference checks.

Pay Grade: TR 15

Salary Range: $32.92 $34.85Hourly
