NATO is organising an infosession webinar on the recruitment process for this programme which will take place on11/06/2025 at 4pm CET (Brussels time).
This will be the opportunity for applicants and professionals to gain more insight into
the steps of the recruitment process and to have the opportunity to ask questions to
Talent Acquisition Service. Some interns and/or former interns will also share their experience of the programme with the audience.

The NATO Chief Information Officer (CIO) function brings information and Communication Technologies (ICT) coherence across NATO Enterprises 41 civil and military bodies and more than 25000 users. The NATO CIO is empowered to realize the Allies vision for the NATO Enterprise he is accountable to the Secretary General and he is responsible for the development of Enterprise directives and advice on the acquisition and use of information technologies and services.
The NATO CIO provides Enterprise oversight on cybersecurity issues and in close coordination with all relevant NATO civil and military bodies works towards the continual improvement of the cyber hygiene and cybersecurity posture in the NATO Enterprise. In addition champions a coherent secure and digitallyenabled NATO Enterprise that supports the Alliance to protect one billion people.
The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) enables an effective and digitallytransformed NATO Enterprise that serves the Alliances strategic goals and objectives towards 2030 and beyond. The Office champions #OneNATO increases the coherence of ICT services and capabilities and provides valued and trusted advice to Allies and the NATO Enterprise. It also improves the user
experience by driving coherent Enterprise requirements and enhancing service performance management. It contributes to strategic Enterprise functions such as Information and Knowledge Management and Data Exploitation.
The NATO CIO fosters a trusted environment by owning the Enterprise CIS risk and continually enhancing the Enterprise cybersecurity posture as the Single Point of Authority.
How the daily work will look like
The OCIO intern would be expected to:
- contribute to the development of strategic advice and documents for the OCIO senior staff on a wide range of policy and administrative matters;
- support the preparation for meetings including drafting of presentations and speaking notes;
- support the OCIO coordination with the Private Office (the cabinet of the Secretary General) International Staff divisions and independent offices the International Military Staff and other NATO Enterprise entities;
- manage tasks schedules monitoring and prioritization tools including SharePoint;
- perform other tasks as requested by the OCIO senior staff.

Selection Criteria

Essential:
The candidate must:
- be a national of a NATO member state
- be at least 21 years old
- have at least two years of university level studies OR equivalent education OR be currently a student OR a recent graduate (degree obtained no longer than 12 months ago)
- have proficiency in one of the two official NATO languages (English/French).
Desirable:
The following criteria will be considered an advantage:
- Bachelors degree or in the final stage of a Masters degree relevant to the requested area of expertise
- elementary knowledge of the second official NATO language (English/French)
- be an advanced user of IT tools including Microsoft Office SharePoint;
- previous experience with other international organizations national administration research or industry.
