Job Description
Overview
The Senior Accountant plays a critical role within the finance department responsible for overseeing the daytoday financial operations of the organization. This position is integral in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. The Senior Accountant will work closely with other accounting staff and departments providing strategic insights and analyses that help guide financial decisionmaking. This role requires a combination of advanced accounting knowledge analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a broad audience. The Senior Accountant will also implement best practices in financial management ensure the integrity of financial data and support the financial planning and analysis processes. Continuous improvement and attention to detail are essential in this position as the Senior Accountant will be expected to identify discrepancies and recommend solutions proactively. Ultimately this role is vital in maintaining the organization s financial health and supporting its strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements and reports.
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Manage the monthend closing process.
- Prepare and monitor budgets and forecasts.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to management.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Coordinate with auditors during reviews and audits.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Assist in tax preparation and compliance.
- Monitor financial transactions for accuracy and compliance.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
- Evaluate automated accounting systems for efficiency.
- Prepare reports for regulatory compliance and tax submissions.
- Support financial decisionmaking by analyzing trends.
- Participate in financial modeling and data analysis.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
- CPA certification or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks SAP).
- Exceptional understanding of GAAP and tax regulations.
- Experience with financial reporting and analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Team player with a collaborative mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
- Experience in preparing budgets and forecasts.
- Familiarity with financial modeling techniques.
