Description

Digital Content Editor

As a Digital Content Editor you will contribute to improving the way we use our website and other owned digital channels such as bulk emails with an approach to content that is anchored in evidence and strategy. You will help to enhance resident experience through
contributing to changes that improve the usability and accessibility of the website including through optimising content for better search and navigation.

To achieve this you will create edit and post digital content that supports the Councils integrated campaigns deliver plans for keeping contentuptodate and execute plans for reviewing and improving web content.

You will also devise content for Newham enewsletters and the intranet keeping intranet pages uptodate easy to navigation and user friendly. For all owned digital channels you will develop creative and engaging content applying Newham brand guidelines following the Councils web content strategy and applying best practice for accessibility.

You will use web analytics to monitor website traffic user behaviour and user engagement working closely with Senior Digital Content Editor to implement learning and improvement actions. You will support the Senior Digital Content Editor to devise digital content plans and contribute to the development and review of the Councils digital content strategy.

You will also provide advice and guidance to frontline Services who are responsible for maintaining their own service content.
Job Context


The post holder reports to the Senior Digital Content Editor.
The post holder has no line management responsibility.
All employees are required to participate in the Performance Development Scheme and to undertake appropriate training and development identified to enhance their work.
The post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues in the Marketing Directorate and across the Council playing an integral part in the delivery of goal orientated integrated campaigns.
The post holder will be required to work some evenings weekends and occasional public holidays in order to meet campaign and communication requirements.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities
Key tasks and accountabilities are intended to be a guide to the range and level of work expected of the post holder. This is not an exhaustive list of all tasks that may fall to the post holder and employees will be expected to carry out such other reasonable duties which may be required from time to time.
Use web analytics to monitor website traffic user behaviour and user engagement and recommend actions to be incorporated into the plan for improving web content.
Write edit and proofread creative and engaging content for the Councils website and Newham enewsletters often translating complex information into clear and concise language and making effective and inspiring use of graphics photography and multimedia in line with brand guidelines.
Apply legal requirements and accessibility standards such as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Newhams editorial standards.
