GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Girls School (WGS) is a therapeutic and educational facility dedicated to helping courtordered girls aged 1221 build brighter futures. Our mission is to provide traumaresponsive care in a safe nurturing environment where students can grow and thrive.
As aYouth Development Specialist Cook you will play a vital role in shaping the lives of young women by fostering accountability emotional growth and life skills through overseeing students who are working in the oncampus kitchen vocational program while preparing meals for the Wyoming Girls School Food Service Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.- Create a menu the ability to read and follow recipes and recipe idea input with the meal service.
- Maintain the requirements of the Food Safety & Sanitation Guidelines.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of students who are working in the oncampus Kitchen vocational program.
- Train new employees.
- Prepare serve and supervise lunch and dinner.
- Complete required bimonthly evaluation report as well as recordkeeping logs and reports in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
- Ensure compliance with the guidelines and expectations of the WGS Food Service Program during all aspects of meal preparation.
- Ensure training for kitchen staff in sanitation food safety and bloodborne pathogens is completed and up to date.
- Responsible for weekly commissary and produce orders including verification and accuracy.
- Proper food storage of the food items and supplies.
- Overseeing the daily maintenance and cleaning of the Central Kitchen and the deep cleaning of the kitchen and dining room
- Work with employees on professional and personal development.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
**Certificates:Food Safety and Sanitation Program HAACP MANDT CPR & First Aide
KNOWLEDGE:- Knowledge of food preparation and recipe verification.
- Understands and can read Safety Data Sheets for chemicals used.
- Knowledgeable in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Associates Degree (typically in Social Services)Experience:02 years of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Youth Services SpecialistOREducation & ExperienceSubstitution:24 years of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Youth Services SpecialistCertificates Licenses Registrations:NoneNecessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:- Ability to stand uninterrupted for 8 hours
- Ability to consistently lift 40 pounds
NOTES:- FLSA: Nonexempt
All positions within the Department of Family Services will require a background information check including the taking of fingerprints which will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation the Department of Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
