JOB DESCRIPTIONTechnology Support Specialist I

Supervises: N/A

JOB SUMMARY

Install and troubleshoot computer hardware and software; train users in functions and operations of computers; provide continuing onsite and telephone support for users.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide onsite and telephone support for users of hardware and software.
  • Install Windows PCs Chromebooks and iPads including applicable peripherals software and apps.
  • Manage district technology hardware groups and accounts using Active Directory and Mobile Device Management solutions.
  • Conduct and document tier I problemsolving research.
  • Test and install new software programs and updates
  • Document troubleshooting steps and solutions in Help Desk ticket system.
  • Diagnose hardware problems and replace components as needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn to communicate in more than one language at the novice level of proficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular attendance.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Operation of Windows PCs Chromebooks and iPads and related peripherals.
  • Operation of numerous software applications used by students teachers and staff.
  • Installation of computer hardware peripherals and software.
  • Proper methods of storing equipment materials and supplies.
  • Manual instructions sufficient to enable quick and accurate diagnosis of difficulties. Technical aspects of field of specialty.
  • Customer Service practices.

ABILITY TO:

  • Install computer hardware and software.
  • Provide assistance and technical knowledge of various software applications.
  • Present training sessions on the operation of computer hardware and software applications.
  • Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in the field.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Work independently on tasks as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn to communicate in more than one language at the novice level of proficiency

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate supplemented by course work in microcomputers and software applications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work is performed while standing sitting and/or walking
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech vision and hearing
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations

  • Requires the ability to lift carry push or pull light weights up to 30 pounds
