POSITION: Publications Production Specialist REPORTS TO: Senior Manager Content Acquisitions
SUMMARY This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of taking an accepted developed manuscript to final product (digital or print). The successful production specialist will collaborate with freelancers; format manuscripts; review copyedits proofreading and indexing; provide materials to typesetters for page layout and maintain productive relationships with authors. Additionally the publications production specialist is expected to become familiar with ACHE editorial style including The Chicago Manual of Style 18th edition. The publications production specialist will be expected to commit to producing the highquality publications that are the hallmark of ACHEs publishing program.
JOB FUNCTIONS Book Editorial/Production Activities 75% of Time - Collaborates with external editorial and internal acquisitions staff to compile material for publication. Ensures that all permissions release forms and contributor agreements are completed as needed.
- Serves as a project management liaison with authors editors freelancers and vendors to monitor the production process from initial production evaluation through proof stage print and digital manufacturing.
- Resolves queries tracks progress and provides feedback as necessary to ensure that quality material is published.
- Maintains production schedules with accurate and timely dates and estimated completion times for all assigned projects.
- Sets tracks and meets budgets and schedules for all books.
- Appropriately logs and addresses errata working with internal acquisitions staff and external authors and editors.
- Posts content in ACHE Activate including exam copies final products instructor resources and supplemental content.
ACHE Learn Activities 20% of Time - Reviews select material from ACHE national education programs for editorial style consistency accuracy and accessibility as needed.
- Assists with learning management system testing and other new product testing as needed.
- Contributes to usability testing for national registrations as needed.
- Reviews website for areas that require update references to educational offerings and makes recommendations for new programs; maintains a running list of web pages that need systematic review.
Other Activities 5% of Time
- Reviews cover proofs for all new releases to ensure accuracy of relevant metadata including title author names ISBN and prices.

- Serves as a backup to monitor and respond to author and other inquiries in the Learn Books inbox as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS - Baccalaureate degree in English journalism communications publishing digital publishing business or related field.
- Proficiency in written English language (editorial style grammar usage and spelling).
- Minimum of five years of publishing experience preferably with periodicals and books.
- Demonstrated skill in the production of digital and print publications.
- Knowledge of publishing procedures and scholarly publishing practices.
- Understanding the requirements necessary to achieve accessibility is preferred.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments/tasks at once.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be computer literate.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint).
- Must have strong team and customer service orientation.
- Must have good time management and organizational skills.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Must possess sound judgment discretion and a high degree of professionalism.
- Ability to memorize a wide variety and type of information.

COMPENSATION This is an exempt/salaried role paid on a biweekly basis. We anticipate filling this position in a salary range of $62000$80000 annually. This salary range represents ACHEs good faith estimate of the possible compensation offer for this role at the time of posting. The compensation offered will take the following into consideration: education relevant experience certifications organizational budget and market estimates for the role.
