Description
This position is responsible for assisting in the development administration and supervision of the athletic training program for the mens basketball and crosscountry athletic programs. The position serves as a second in command along with the other assistant athletic trainers of the athletic training room and as supervisor in the absence of the department head. This position also assists in coordinating and executing all primary and secondary insurance claims concerning student athlete injury and treatment.
Essential Job Duties
- Observe and evaluate the health status of student athletes during practices and competitions;
- Makereferralstoteam physicians;
- Providedirectsupervisionoverallmenssports;
- Providedirectsupervisionoverallmensbasketballpractices/workouts;
- Travelwith mensbasketballteam toandfromallcompetitions;
- Oversightforthehealthandwellnessofmensandwomenscrosscountryprograms;
- Assistinmaintaininghealthrecordsofallstudentathletesusingtheathletictrainingroom;
- Assistinthesupervisionofgraduateassistantsandstudent employees;
- Assistinthedevelopmentofpoliciesandprocedures;
- Assistintheadministrationofdrugscreeningprogramsforallstudentathletes;
- Assistintheadministration ofinsurancecoverageforallstudentathletesbothdomesticandinternational;
- Assistthedepartment head coworkersandteamphysiciansinpreparticipationphysicalexaminations;
- Assistindeterminingandmaintainingpropercoverageforallsports;
- Workwiththeteamphysiciansindetermininganathletesstatusofreturntoplayto theirrespectivesport;
- Assistincoordinatingwith healthservicesregardingthehealthstatusofthestudentathletes;
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Health/Physical Education or Athletic Training is required;
- Mastersdegreeispreferred;
- Collegiatelevel athletic training experience is strongly preferred.
LICENSES CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:- NationalAthleticTrainersAssociationBoardofCertificationCertified;
- Eligible for licensure in the state of Alabama required;
- Current and ongoing CPR certification is required.
