Job Description
The Academic Reading Teacher will deliver highquality reading instruction to grades K12. This role involves developing engaging lesson plans aligned with Arkansas state standards assessing student progress and fostering a positive learning environment that encourages critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
Curriculum and Instruction
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the Arkansas English Language Arts Standards.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
- Incorporate technology and realworld applications to enhance reading comprehension and engagement.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments providing timely feedback.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and respecting all students.
- Implement effective classroom management techniques to promote student engagement and discipline.
Collaboration and Professional Development
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary lessons and share best practices.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and methodologies.
- Engage with parents and guardians to communicate student progress and address concerns.
Other responsibilities (As Needed)
- Supporting student recruitment enrollment and retention activities as needed
- Write letters of recommendation for students as needed.
- Additional tasks as requested to support student achievement school culture and team collaboration.
Qualifications :
Education: Bachelors degree in Education English or related field required.
Licenses: Standard Arkansas Teaching License in Elementary Education (K6) or English Language Arts (712); or eligible for licensure through reciprocity; or currently enrolled in an Alternative Licensure Program (ALP).
Experience: Prior teaching experience in reading or language arts preferred.
- Must pass state and federal background checks including fingerprinting and child maltreatment registry checks.
- Ongoing participation in professional development activities as required by ADE.
- Strong content knowledge in reading instruction and literacy development.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience teaching in a KIPP or other highperforming charter school environment preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
Additional Information :
Teacher salaries will be based on the experience degree level and licensure per the SY 202526 Salary Schedule.
