Job Description

The State of Montana has a decentralized human resources (HR) system. Each agency is responsible for its own recruitment and selection. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITES:

If you are the right person for this opportunity you will have the following knowledge skills or abilities:

Knowledge of (or ability to learn in a reasonable amount of time):

  • Principles of risk assessment and compliance monitoring to effectively prevent detect and as necessary resolve instances of noncompliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Principles and practices of public administration and the goals of national service programs.
  • Conducting and coordinating needs assessment and trainings to ensure program needs and input are incorporated into training and technical assistance.

Skill in:

  • Interpreting complex federal policies rules and regulations technical report writing and meeting multiple deadlines with accuracy.
  • Communicating mindfully with a wide variety of audiences paying attention to detail thinking analytically and managing multiple priorities.
  • Public speaking adult learning styles continuous improvement and working in a professional office setting.
  • Microsoft Office Suite programs strongly preferred.

Ability to:

  • Identify analyze and solve challenges facing national service grantees by maintaining professional relationships and staying current on AmeriCorps regulations.
  • Manage projects to completion stay organized give and receive constructive feedback in a timely manner.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a statewide and national network of national service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Your preparation for this opportunity could include a combination of relevant experiences including:

  • Bachelors degree in business or public administration organizational development or a related field plus 2 years directly related experience required.

OR

  • 5 years of directly related qualifying experience.

OR

  • Any combination of equivalent experience and education to successfully perform the essential functions of the position will be considered.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of federally funded national service or involvement with AmeriCorps programs (AmeriCorps) strongly preferred.
  • Experience in compliance nontraditional dynamic education adult learning styles managing projects and administrative functions preferred.

Note: Employees for the State of Montana must reside within Montana.This position is permanent however is contingent on continued funding. Funding is expected beyond one year but not assured.

Although attached to DLI for administrative purposes only GOCS has its own functions. The Governors Office of Community Service (GOCS) exists to expand national service and community volunteerism across Montana. GOCS is a state service commission responsible for administering federal funding for AmeriCorps State programs in Montana and coordinating with other AmeriCorps programs such as National Directs VISTA and NCCC. GOCS is led by a Governorappointed Director and is supported by a fifteenmember Commission on Community Service. GOCS partners with all streams of AmeriCorps service programs and communitybased organizations to meet the objectives and goals of the state service plan.

This position may be eligible for a statutory $1.00 an hour base pay increase effective on July 1 2025 and July 1 2026.
