Job Description
The Product Owner role at Avista works within the Scrum and Agile framework to gather business requirements from various stakeholders and helps move Avistas major business systems and platforms forward. The Product Owner leads the translation of business features into technical requirements and works with the business to prioritize the requirements at the program and project levels. The Product Owner participates in the software release forecasting for a given set of products or programs and participates in the continuous improvement of the agile delivery process.

Responsibilities
  • Works within Agile/Scrum framework as single point of contact for work coming into the development team
  • Works with stakeholders to create and break down work items into features and user stories including functional and nonfunctional requirements with clear and sufficient acceptance criteria that will minimize development team rework
  • Owns manages and orders the backlog of work to obtain the highest value for stakeholders
  • Makes sure the development team understands the work and what done and success look like. Assures that the development team has sufficient refined and estimated upcoming work that can be completed in a single sprint
  • Participates in sprint standups reviews and retrospectives. Accountable for sprint planning and demos to stakeholders of completed work
  • Responsible for quality of team output embraces security and risk management as part of their job assists with development roadmaps
  • Collaborates with business partners to jointly define and deliver on product vision and to provide that vision and direction to the agile development team (which may include both technical and business members)
  • Works with other Product Owners to prioritize and coordinate backlog items and to ensure overall product vision and priorities are aligned
  • Assists with administrative items such as billing and timekeeping management of contracts with outside vendors
  • Develops product roadmaps for inportfolio solutions creates development roadmaps responsible for coordination of handoff to Operations
Requirements
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science Information Science Business Administration Accounting or equivalent
  • 7 years of related experience previous working experience as a Product Owner
  • Strong analysis skills
  • Working knowledge of many aspects of the utility business
  • Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum practices andscaled Scrum practices
  • Superior ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences (technical and nontechnical)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills persuasive and quick decisionmaking skills
  • Creative thinker with a vision and attention to details a must outstanding communication presentation and leadership skills lead experience

      Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

      Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with an additional day determined by the employee and manager.
