About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated Data Engineer to join our team and support reporting requirements in the insurance domain. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines transforming complex insurance data and delivering highquality datasets for analytics and reporting. This role demands technical expertise a deep understanding of insurance processes (e.g. underwriting claims premiums) and handson experience with data visualization tools like Power BI.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Data Integration & Transformation:
o Design and develop ETL/ELT pipelines for processing insurance data including underwriting claims bordereaux and premium data.
o Ensure the integrity accuracy and timeliness of data for reporting purposes.
2. Cloud & Infrastructure Management:
o Utilize Azure services (e.g. Data Factory Databricks SQL Database Blob Storage) to support the ingestion and processing of large datasets.
o Implement secure and scalable data solutions aligned with cloud best practices.
3. Data Modeling for Reporting:
o Create optimized data models tailored for Power BI and other reporting platforms to enable efficient querying and analytics.
o Work with stakeholders to define key metrics and KPIs relevant to the insurance domain.
4. Collaboration with Business Teams:
o Partner with business analysts actuaries and data architects to translate reporting requirements into technical deliverables.
o Ensure alignment of data pipelines with business needs for underwriting claims fraud detection and policy analysis.
5. Data Governance & Quality Assurance:
o Implement data validation checks to ensure high data quality and adherence to governance policies.
o Support data security initiatives to comply with insurance regulations and standards.
6. Visualization & Reporting Support:
o Provide clean and wellstructured datasets for reporting tools like Power BI.
o Create sample dashboards and reports to validate data accuracy and usability.
7. Performance Optimization:
o Optimize data pipelines for performance and costeffectiveness in cloud environments.
o Regularly review infrastructure and recommend improvements for scaling reporting solutions.
Qualifications we seek in you!
Minimum Qualifications
Education:Bachelors degree in Computer Science Mathematics Data Science or related fields.
Technical Skills:
o Handson experience with Azure services: Data Factory Databricks SQL Database Blob Storage and Key Vault.
o Proficiency in ETL/ELT pipeline development and data processing techniques.
o Expertise in SQL and Python for data transformation and analysis.
o Familiarity with data visualization tools particularly Power BI.
Domain Knowledge:
o Strong understanding of insurance processes including underwriting claims premium calculations and fraud detection.
o Experience with bordereaux data and insurancespecific reporting requirements.
Soft Skills:
o Excellent communication and collaboration skills to interact effectively with business and technical teams.
o Analytical mindset with a focus on accuracy and detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications in Azure Data Engineering Power BI or equivalent.
Experience in reporting and analytics in the insurance domain.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines using Azure Repo/GitHub.
