Job Description

HOURS May be called for a variety of shifts including days evenings and overnights. Must be available to work a minimum of 5 shifts each month including one overnight shift and 2 shifts on a weekend.

How You Will Make an Impact

The successful candidate will extend our mission to residential and nonresidential clients through the provision of respectful and appropriate shelter support services. This may include case management crisis intervention and supportive counseling. The incumbent must be able to work independently in a challenging and rewarding valuesbased environment.


What Youll Bring to Our Team

  • Postsecondary education in social services or a related field is required
  • Have strong knowledge of or experience working with a range of issues impacting women and families including homelessness violence against women and children immigration poverty mental illness and substance use
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the housing system in Hamilton the Residential Tenancies Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code required
  • Understand and be comfortable working from a personcentered traumainformed approach
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in community outreach or emergency shelter
  • Fluency in a 2nd language is an asset
  • CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required
  • Valid G license required
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Committed to antiracist/antioppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
