The role
Our existing ecology team comprises a mixture of experienced technical experts environmental data analysts and enthusiastic assistants that pride themselves on developing their skills and finding innovative solutions.
This is permanent role with options for remote hybrid and flexible working and we are open to full time or part time applicants. With projects throughout the country a head office in Stockport and regional workspaces in London and Derbyshire we are flexible on location.
As a Senior or Principal Ecologist you will be responsible for leading the delivery of a wide range of ecology projects and programmes of work from inception to completion.
Your key responsibilities will be
- Producing fee proposals and tenders
- Planning resourcing and delivering ecological surveys (including outofhours surveys travelling as required and working away from home)
- Production of written reports including PEA BNG EcIAs
- Engaging with clients and subcontractors
- Quality assurance of others written work
- Mentoring and training of junior ecologists
Requirements
It s really important to us that we find people that will thrive at Envance. We are looking for people that have the following attributes;
- Selfstarter keen to develop professionally and use initiative to find solutions
- Takes pride in quality written work
- Experience in ecological impact assessment PEA BNG and managing survey programmes
- Protected species licences and/or a specific area of ecological expertise
- Experience of or desire to lead survey teams and/or mentor early career ecologists
- Experience in tendering and preparing fee proposals
- A relevant degree and minimum of four years professional experience
- FISC Level 3 or above
- Associate or full membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
- GIS software skills in ARCGIS or QGIS
- Have a full UK driving licence.

A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field. Knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and ecological survey techniques. Experience in species identification and habitat assessment. Analytical and report-writing skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexible to travel to sites as required A full UK driving licence or equivalent Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Education
Degress or equivalent in a field related to environmental science and/or management.
