This position is located in the Nursing Department at Central Louisiana State Hospital.
The position may be filled by Probation Promotion Demotion Job Appointment or Detail To Special Duty
Psychiatric Aide 3 has a special entry rate of$13.91/hour.
In addition to the special entry rate of pay/hour this position receives:
Premium Pay of$1.50/hourworked
Retention Paystarts at an additional $1.00/hourworked up to $2.50/hourworked.
Shift Differential for Weekends and Holidays is$.40for every hourworked.
Salary is negotiable based on experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Eighteen months of experience in providing behavioral health or developmentally disabled services or psychiatric patient care; OR
Nine semester hours of college coursework in a social sciences field education social work child guidance or nursing; OR
One year of experience in providing behavioral health or developmentally disabled services or psychiatric patient care plus a Behavioral Health Aide Diploma from a vocational technical college with an approved curriculum from the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.Job Concepts
Function of Work:
To perform responsible nonprofessional nursing support work involvingdirect patient care and theimplementation of a variety of planned therapeutic techniques.
Level of Work:
Advanced.
Supervision Received:
General from a professional nurse physician or other medical personnel of a higher level.
Supervision Exercised:
Lead worker over Psychiatric Aides 1 2.
Location of Work:
State health care facilities and rehabilitation centers.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Psychiatric Aide 2 by the implementation of a variety of planned therapeutic techniques.Examples of Work
Provides emotional/physical support as indicated based on knowledge of the patients psychiatric disorder communication skills and behavior.
Communicates to nursing staff all verbal interactions with patients.
Maintains appropriate therapeutic staff patient relationship and utilizes knowledge of therapeutic techniques.
Performs specialized patient care activities such as range of motion postmortem care isolation techniques and observation of restrained patients.
Serves as lead worker over Psychiatric Aides of a lower level.
Performs all duties of lowerlevel psychiatric aides.
