Duties and Responsibilities:

1. *Provides highlevel administrative support and assistance to the Assistant Vice Provost for SEED and/or other assigned leadership staff within SEED.

2. *Oversees outreach promotion and campusbased educational programming for SEED. Includes but not limited to participation in orientation campus outreach activities and provides assistance to other SEED programs.

3. Prepares all administrative fiscal and personnel related documents for SEED. This includes support for extramural projects and grants.

4. *Reviews documents reports requests and correspondence to determine the prioritization and appropriate handling and/or action required. Recommends appropriate action to the Assistant Vice Provost for SEED after reading and analyzing reports requests and other submissions.

5. *Responds to issues or concerns from students faculty staff community members and others.

6. Directs and coordinates effort for the development and implementation of special programs and initiatives that encompass the goals of SEED.

7. Plans and facilitates meetings including structuring agenda for meetings with appropriate parties to set goals and objectives.

8. Identifies and prepares proposals and requests for government extramural grants and foundations to offer programming and support for SEED programs.

9. *Plans schedules coordinates and develops phases of a program/project of moderate size and complexity.

10. Develops outreach materials to promote SEED events scholarships and services. This includes the use of print and social media platforms.

11. *Responsible for the recruitment training and supervision of student assistants interns and volunteers. Observes and evaluates staff to provide feedback using standard criteria (e.g. approach best practices content knowledge and customer service).

12. Establishes office procedures and coordinates work assignments for student assistants interns and volunteers.

13. *Provides support for recruitment intake and administration of Veteran Affairs (VA) Work Study Program.

14. *Manages and coordinates the Senior Visitor/NaKupuna Program.

15. Actively collaborates with SEED departments and programs Division of Student Success (DSS) units and other appropriate departments and programs on campus. Develops and maintains innovative partnerships and collaborations with existing departments and programs that serve a wide range of communities and students on campus.

16. Attends and participates in programs and events in the evenings weekends and/or holidays as needed.

17. Administers and manages a systemwide minigrant program. Includes collaboration with faculty and staff from other UH campuses.

18. Responsible for administration and oversight for multiple student scholarships and awards. This includes but is not limited to convening selection committees designing rubrics and outreach.

19. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education Social Sciences Social Work or related field and 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for providing student support services for a wide range of student populations; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.

2. Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of student support services for a wide range of student populations as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.

3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with student support services for a wide range of student populations.

4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.

5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.

6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.

7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer apply word processing software.

8. If applicable for supervisory work demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.

9. Knowledge of current research on a wide range of student populations.

10. Ability to work outside of normal working hours including evenings weekends and/or holidays for events or other activities as needed.

11. Evidence of ability to adapt to changing needs and issues within student affairs.

12. Experience with outreach organizing and planning programs and workshops for a wide range of students from various backgrounds and experiences.

13. Experience scheduling and facilitating small and large group meetings in person and online with various constituents and stakeholders.

14. Demonstrated experience with postsecondary fellowship and internship programs.

15. Experience in scheduling supervising and training student assistants and volunteer staff to run campus based programs.

16. Demonstrated experience with student scholarships fellowships and financial aid systems.

Desirable Qualifications:

1. Possession of a Masters degree in Education Social Sciences Social Work or related field.

2. Knowledge of retention and student success strategies for a wide range of student populations.

3. Knowledge of issues facing a wide range of communities in Hawaii.

4. Demonstrated experience providing mentoring and professional guidance to students in higher education.

5. Experience creating professional development opportunities for staff and students.

6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an appropriate and respectful manner with a wide range ofcommunities people and student populations.

7. Knowledge and/or experience administering VA educational benefits.

8. At least five years of experience coordinating and managing programs for HIDOE and postsecondary student populations.

9. Experience with the Kuali Financial System (KFS) eTravel and myGrants.

10. Knowledge and experience with student affairs and resources for student populations in Hawaii.
