Position Overview
Cherokee County Schools is seeking a skilled and dedicated IT Technician to join our school systems technology team. The ideal candidate will provide technical support to staff and students maintain our educational technology infrastructure and ensure our systems run smoothly to support our learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide firstline technical support to teachers staff and students for hardware software and network issues
- Install configure and maintain computer systems peripherals and educational technology equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve computer network and software problems in a timely manner
- Manage user accounts and access privileges across school systems
- Implement and maintain network security protocols and data protection measures
- Perform routine maintenance and updates on school technology systems
- Assist with the setup of technology for special events and presentations
- Document technical procedures and maintain inventory of technology assets
- Support classroom technology integration and provide basic training to staff
- Collaborate with teachers to implement technology solutions that enhance learning
Qualifications.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems basic networking and common software applications
- Experience with educational technology platforms and student information systems
- Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education and/or Microsoft 365 for Education
- Excellent problemsolving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical users
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service
- Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel between school locations as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA A Network or other relevant IT certifications
- Experience with mobile device management in educational settings
- Knowledge of audiovisual equipment setup and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with educational software and learning management systems
- Associates degree in IT Computer Science or related field (Bachelors degree preferred)
- 2 years of experience in IT support preferably in an educational environment
Work Environment
- Fulltime 40 hours per week with occasional evening or weekend work during special events or system upgrades
- Physical ability to lift and move equipment up to 30 pounds
- Position requires moving between school buildings to provide onsite support
