Job Description
Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast affordable broadband to a wide range of customers including consumers businesses government agencies and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
The Technical Program Manager for Kuiper will help define and develop the interfaces requirements and lead technical efforts and reviews. This role includes direct responsibility for system level development integration manufacturing and test and all program management. This is a highly technical role requiring experience with integrated hardware and software development as well as some appreciation for complex applications. You will have significant influence over the design and the test approach we take to develop the system.
You will tackle challenging novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that havent been solved at scale before. Key job responsibilities
You will create and drive highlevel strategic initiatives but will also roll up your sleeves and contribute directly on systems requirements technical strategy technical specifications and test plans. A Senior TPM anticipates bottlenecks uses great judgment to make tradeoffs influences multiple technical teams and balances the business needs with technical constraints. Your ability to understand the big picture of the project design and anticipate and plan dependencies is crucial. Your ability to deliver large complex projects ontime across multiple engineering domains is invaluable. You will work with a team of experts and drive the team to successfully accomplish the following activities:
Drive complex crossfunctional engineering trades to optimize performance manufacturability and reliability of highperformance systems.
Develop complex manufacturing processes test setups processes methods and tooling
Develop and manage technical requirements and interfaces that tie to system level requirements.
Identify and lead trade studies and analyses necessary to understanding performance and other aspects of the design.
Identify features and lead development through delivery of complex software and hardware.
Optimize the velocity of engineering development through the design and automation of mechanisms.
Develop and manage timeline dependencies and deliverables.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
5 years of mechanical systems/test development experience.
3 years of experience in a technical lead systems engineer or technical program management.
3 years of experience leading crossfunctional teams delivering products on schedule.
Proficiency with at least one schedule tracking tools such as MS Project SmartSheet or alternative.
Experience with Mechanical Systems for space applications.
Experience developing highperformance systems for aerospace applications or systems operating in extreme environments.
Experience in automated testing and system characterization.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to regularly engage with senior stake holders and influence across the organization.
Ability to effectively escalate while maintain trust of the team.
Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
High sense of ownership urgency and drive.
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical individuals.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
