Job Description
TITLE: Head Start/Early Head Start Instructional Coach
QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a baccalaureate degree in early childhood education
or a related field.
REPORTS TO: Head Start/Early Head Start Director
JOB GOAL: To help build and strengthen teachers ability to design and
implement Birth to Five State Standards based high quality
teaching through jobembedded individual/group coaching
modeling and coteaching with appropriate followthrough
support.
TERM: Ten Months
SALARY: Head Start Salary Schedule
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. To research share and model teaching strategies that have proven effective in improving
student performance.
II. To observe and evaluate teaching methods and to coach teachers in implementing
researchbased teaching strategies.
III. To assist teachers and administration with assessment and evaluation of Early Childhood
child assessment and Early Childhood program/teacher evaluation.
IV. To provide jobembedded support and guidance to administration staff and teachers.
V. To plan and implement professional development activities with administration staff and
teachers.
VI. To establish and execute a professional growth and selfevaluation plan.
VII. To exhibit professional ethics and to consistently demonstrate selfdirection.
VIII. To foster open communication and positive relationships with administration teachers
and within the community.
NEW FLSA: Exempt
IX. To follow Head Start Program Performance Standards State and Rapides Parish School
Board policies.
X. To perform any additional duties assigned by the Head Start/Early Head Start Director.
