Position #22298: High School Attendance Secretary/Bilingual Required
Posting Dates: 05/12/2025 05/16/2025 (Or Until Filled)
Location:Kennewick High School
Hours:7 Hours per Day 180Days per Year

This position will begin withschool year. New hires may attend paid training days in August.

JOB DESCRIPTION


Thesecretary in this position will be primarily working in the attendance office. The duties will involve performing tasks to support the efficient operations of the attendance office and the activities office caring for students in the health room using basic first aid procedures and administering students medicine. Other jobrelated duties may be assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Must present transcripts of highest level of education within thirty (30) days of hire.
  3. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  4. Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position.
  5. Must pass a basic skills test.
  6. Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within thirty (30) days of hire and yearly thereafter.
  7. Must pass a background check which includes employee paid fingerprinting.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  1. Bilingual Skills Required Must pass STAMP bilingual assessment in spanish.
  2. Demonstrated competency in verbal and written communication and excellent customer service skills.
  3. Must uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures.
  4. Must take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  5. Must attend inservice trainings or other meetings as required as well as attend any training as directed by management.
  6. Evidence of ability to assess and correct issues involving safety.
  7. Evidence of ability to establish and maintain a tactful cooperative and effective relationship with students parents staff fellow employees and management.
  8. Evidence of ability to approach assigned work in a professional manner working toward the common goal of teamwork pride in service delivery and continuous improvement.
  9. Must demonstrate sufficient command of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing with students parents district staff members and other concerned people regarding all aspects of their job related activities.
  10. Must be able to use basic computer programs to maintain records enter timecard information and read and respond to email.
  11. Must be willing to become CPR/firstaid certified if required.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  1. A minimum of one year work experience with computer/word processing.
  2. Evidence of accuracy and ability to meet deadlines.
  3. Effectively communicates and develops relationships with students teachers administrators parents and public.
  4. Successful experience working with secondaryaged students. Must enjoy young people and have a sense of humor.
  5. Working knowledge of RCWs pertaining to attendance and discipline.
  6. Produce accurate results in an environment with regular interruptions and deadlines.
  7. Knowledge of setup and printing of labels and other word processing formats.
  8. Positive evaluations and recommendations that support character and work ethic.
  9. Excellent attendance punctuality and dependability; evidence of ability to be selfdisciplined and a selfstarter.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Input computer entries for discipline and attendance.
  2. Verify attendance notes; call parents as an attendance intervention.
  3. Assist with answering the telephone and message machine for daily messages.
  4. Assist with health room coverage and administering medication.
  5. Write student admit slips.
  6. Prepare and mail attendance form letters on a daily basis.
  7. Assist with tracking data entry prepare and distribute discipline referrals.
  8. Assist with compiling student homework assignments.
  9. Utilize computer for word processing emails etc.
  10. Perform miscellaneous filing.
  11. Perform all duties of the position within the scope of Kennewick School District policies and procedures including regular attendance and punctuality.
  12. Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned by supervisor.
