Job Description
The Department of English and Creative Writing in the College of Arts and Sciences at Widener University invites applications for the position of adjunct professor of English (firstyear writing). Applicants must have experience teaching firstyear writing and be dedicated to working collaboratively in a department and university that values diversity.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
Essential duties:
- Teaching onethree courses (depending on need) in Fall 2025 (ENGL 101 and/or introduction to literature courses depending on need)
- Creating syllabi and assignments designed to hone writing research and critical thinking skills
- Emphasizing writing as a process through peer review actionable feedback on drafts studentinstructor conferences etc.
- Evaluating student work based on course goals
- Holding 4 office hours per week
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
- MA or above in English Rhetoric/Composition Creative Writing or a related field.
- Experience teaching firstyear writing courses at the college level (composition literature surveys)
