The Early College Programs Office at Madison College is seeking an engaging compassionate and dedicated professional to join our team as an Early College Advisor. This is an exciting opportunity to support high school students who are dually enrolled in both high school and Madison College helping them build college readiness and succeed academically.
In this role you will provide holistic advising and individualized case management to students who are generally enrolling in college for the first time. Youll guide students in setting and achieving their academic and career goals while helping them access college and community resources. The Early College Advisor works collaboratively with students staff faculty and K12 counselors to monitor progress identify necessary interventions and ensure each student receives the support they need to thrive.
This position includes academic and career advising mentorship and proactive outreach and requires some travel to high schools within the Madison College district.
Position Details: This position is partially grant funded through a Perkins grant. Position goes through June 30 2026 with expectation to be renewed yearly based on continued funding.
This is a fulltime exempt position with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm with potential evenings and weekends for student events. This position is a hybrid role with some hours at the indistrict high schools with additional hours in person and some remote opportunity (after successful training). Remote work subject to change per college policy. Position is located at the Truax Campus.

Responsibilities
Provide holistic student support advising for Early College Students. Gain and build confidence with diverse students. Provide regular individualized coaching counsel support and case management to students experiencing family personal or economic crises which may impact academic and personal success. Help students develop selfefficacy by setting and achieving their goals monitoring progress adjusting their behavior and solving their problems. As needed provide student referrals and support for additional college and community resources or counseling services.
Provide intentional Collaboration and Continuous Improvement: Participate in regular team reviews and discussions of proven instructional and youth development practices to inform teaching and program design adapting strategies and practices accordingly. Collaboratively strategize on interventions around student behavior attendance attitude or performance concerns that negatively impact the students or learning communicates progress. Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
Provide academic and career advising to high school students that align with postsecondary goals. Collaboratively review and interpret student transcripts and placement test scores. Assist students to develop academic goals and plans based on high school completion requirements dual credit opportunities and career aspirations. Advise and assist students in understanding academic requirements and in selecting and registering for courses.
Provide academic coaching and resource options for student success. Support students to understand and navigate academic and college systems policies and procedures.
Provide Student Retention support and Case Management. Proactively monitor students progress and work with students to assess and address academic difficulties.
Assist in incoming applicants recruitment assessment placement and course load. Engage in outreach and informational presentations with school district and college personnel students families and community agencies. Participate in evaluating assessing and selecting students including reviewing transcripts files evaluations and interviewing students.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Skill in communicating effectively and professionally both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated communication and human relations skills with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
Knowledge of student development and learning college theory and principles and developmental advising.
Experience assessing student needs and coordinating culturally competent educational and communitybased services.
The ability to learn community outreach and/or partnership development; knowledge of local social service systems.
Demonstrated experience in successfully advising building positive relationships motivating and supporting underserved and culturally diverse young people.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree (or Associates and equivalent additional work experience).
24 years of relevant work experience.
While not a requirement bilingual in Spanish or Hmong is desirable.
Strongly preferred experience as an advisor or previous work with 912 graders.
