Job Description

Title: Manager Service Marine Defense

Key Accountabilities:

  • Plan direct and monitor service project and program activities to ensure the safety of employees customer(s) and equipment while ensuring goals are accomplished accurately and ontime
  • Review Plan Quote oversee operation maintenance and repair of engines to ensure that parts engines and equipment are installed and functioning according to mtu specifications
  • Oversee and coordinate field inspections of failed parts to identify primary cause and reduce future incidents. Check component parts to assure conformance or nonconformance with specifications
  • Provide guidance technical assistance and feedback to mtu technicians and engineers on customer problems and needs
  • Verify results and quality of technicians work and Implement policies standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the group
  • Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures write and update service manuals and bulletins resolve system malfunctions and provide technical information based on field investigations
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports enforcing rules and administer salaried personnel policies and procedures
  • Assign direct and evaluate employees work and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence
  • Provide input regarding timeframe budget staffing and other resources necessary for project/program implementation
  • Assist in preparing budgets and monitor expenses versus budget on a project basis
  • Work with Sr. Management Finance Legal and Purchasing to negotiate supplier contracts
  • Review financial statements and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement
  • Perform special projects on time and within budget
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Represent RRSA in meetings with customers and vendors
  • Implement standardization/stabilization process approach utilizing common forms measurements and structure
  • Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Code of Conduct
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestic and international as required

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology and 5 years of project management failure analysis or service engineering experience with internal combustion engines; or 9 years of project management failure analysis or service engineering experience with internal combustion engines
  • U.S. Citizenship required as this position will be working under a government contract

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent mechanical or electrical knowledge of engines and tools including their designs controls uses repair and maintenance including major engine overhaul and the tuneup of diesel engines and components
  • Excellent knowledge of the practical application of engineering technology in regard to internal combustion engines
  • Excellent ability to read and interpret blueprints technical drawings schematics and computergenerated reports
  • Excellent analytical and creative problemsolving skills when problems are very complex
  • Excellent organizational planning and follow up skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong oral/written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Selfstarter with the strong ability to work extended periods without supervision
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of mtu products RRSA policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of physical properties of fuels coolants and lubricating oils
  • Knowledge of principles of hydraulics physics and pneumatics
  • Maintain detailed records of daily activities in logbooks

Work Environment:

  • Daily work is performed in an office/warehouse environment and aboard customer marine vessels and engine compartments
  • While performing duties of this position the employee is occasionally required to stand kneel crouch reach and / or grasp.
  • Employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to manipulate small items such as a keyboard or mouse and is frequently required to walk within the work environment.
