Posted: May 9 2025 Closed: May 31 2025Employment Opportunity: Shrewsbury High SchoolPOSITION: Music Teacher and Choral DirectorSchool YearShrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Music Teacher and a Choral Director at Shrewsbury High School effective for the school year. The ideal candidate is a creative enthusiastic and organized music educator with strong verbal written and interpersonal communication skills. This position includes fostering an appreciation for music as part of general culture teaching healthy and expressive vocal techniques developing students skills in music literacy listening and performance and engaging students in a variety of nonperformancebased electives. We are seeking candidates who bring a broad range of performance and nonperformance experience and who are deeply committed to excellence equity and access for all learners both in and beyond the classroom. This teacher must be prepared for evening and community commitments for an additional candidates with diverse racial ethnic cultural religious class and/or gender background and experiences are strongly encouraged to ResponsibilitiesFosters a positive and inclusive learning skills in vocal music and music theory within the a balanced music program and organizes daily class time so that preparation rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted class a variety of instruction techniques to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each repertoire of all types of music literature including traditional contemporary world cultures and a variety of composers that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly and productive classroom student progress and provide constructive with parents on student in curriculum and other developmental other duties and responsibilities as cooperatively with elementary and middle school music teachers to build a strong sequential vocal program throughout the as an all levels or Grades 512 Music teacher from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary experience teaching choir at the middle or high school conducting skills knowledge of vocal pedagogy and choral understanding of music technology and to teach healthy lifelong vocal technique to high school to promote and expand involvement in the music to inspire and motivate students from all backgrounds and skill in piano in organizing and directing choir performances and community knowledge of high school student needs and programming the core values of Shrewsbury Public flexibly in a changing environmentApplication ProcessIndividuals applying for this position need to submit the following: letter of application/coverletter; current resume; three current letters of reference copy of applicable licenses andcertifications bachelor/masters unofficial transcripts (official will be required later).Please apply via be prepared to also submit videos of recent performances and sample repertoire for a high school concert directly to Michael Lapomardo upon Shrewsbury Public Schools is an affirmative action employer ensuring that its programs and facilities are accessible to the public.
