Job Title: Payroll Clerk Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt
Reports to: Business Manager Pay Grade: 6
Dept./School: Business Office/Administration Building Date Revised: 10/23/19
Compile and prepare regular district payroll including related reports and deposits. Ensure accurate and timely preparation of payroll records according to prescribed procedures and regulations.
High School Graduate
Prior successful experience and/or training in fields of human resources payroll and/or bookkeeping
helpful.
Proficient in computer spreadsheet and wordprocessing applications.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Prepare and process all steps of the employee payroll.
Reconcile and verify accuracy of all employee deduction statements.
Maintain employee data in computer.
Develop and maintain schedule of filing deadlines for required payroll and personnel reports.
Accurately prepare the appropriate monthly quarterly and annual reports for all jurisdictions relative to payroll including Internal Revenue Service Texas Workforce Commission Teacher Retirement System and Social Security Administration on a timely basis.
Assist employees of the District as needed with all payroll questions.
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions to meet established deadlines; maintain emotional control under stress
