Idaho Power located in vibrant Boise Idaho is looking for a Facility Siting Coordinator to join our Planning Engineering and Construction team. Its an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. Our work plays a critical role in communities we serve across Idaho and Oregon and were working hard to safely provide our customers with the reliable affordable clean energy they depend on.

What does a Facility Siting Coordinator do for us

They lead Idaho Powers electrical facility siting and acquisition processes for new and upgrade of existing electrical transmission distribution line and substation facilities throughout the companys service territory. They are responsible for local government permitting and compliance associated with new facility siting. They serve as a public relations figure within the community and with state and local governments and agencies regarding the facility siting and planning process. They ensure the timely and costeffective siting of facilities while balancing the needs of both the company and the community.

Knowledge of:

  • Electrical utility operations including a highlevel understanding of distribution transmission substation and generation facility design and operations
  • Electrical facility siting procedures and the typical associated issues
  • Policies tariffs rates rules and regulations relating to facility planning
  • Local planning and zoning processes
  • State and local political processes
  • Contribution guidelines
  • Specifications and regulations pertaining to the safe design construction operation and maintenance of facilities
  • Communication techniques team facilitation skills design and construction processes

Skills in:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication particularly in delivering complex information and material
  • Developing and maintaining excellent interpersonal relationships
  • Resolution and negotiation of complex divisive issues
  • Facilitation of advisory committees and other stakeholder groups
  • Personal computers and common business software applications including Microsoft Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint

Ability to:

  • Represent Idaho Power Company professionally and diplomatically with individuals civic groups and government and regulatory agencies
  • Function in highstress situations including effectively interacting with hostile individuals and groups
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Prepare and conduct presentations to company management and to civic groups and government agencies
  • Negotiate on behalf of the Company with government agencies and other stakeholders
  • Use judgment and initiative in resolving common problems resolve internal and external conflicts


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in communications business engineering or related field

OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in a public liaison function involving project management education of internal and external customers and/or communications/media exposure

Preferred:

  • 5 years of experience in a public liaison function involving working with public stakeholders and government agencies in the siting and permitting of electrical utility facilities in addition to project management and land acquisition involvement

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position

Preferred:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Right of Way certification Professional Engineer (PE)


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This require working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment fine motor skills including typing on the computer dialing phones filing paper and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 25 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
