Join our team as a NECC Instructional Assistant at Pelham Elementary School!

Home to more than 1600 students the Pelham School District is comprised of three schools serving PreK through 12thgrade students. About the Position:

Pelham Elementary School in partnership with The New England Center for Children (NECC) are hiring for an Instructional Assistant who will work with children who have intensive special needs. This individual will be able to understand and assist with instruction and behavior management that meets the specific needs of students as outlined within their IEPs. The NECC IA will ensure the safety of students incorporate specific educational objectives into ongoing activities collect data maintain specific student materials and reinforcers. This position works under the direction of the Lead Teacher NECC Clinical Supervisor and/or School/District Administrator. Additional duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Creates opportunities for generalization and maintenance of skills.
  • Collects data on targeted skills and enters the data into an electronic database.
  • Relays parent information Lead Teacher Clinical Supervisor and/or Administrators.
  • Participates in program meetings and trainings.
  • May participate in family meetings reviews progress on IEP goals and contributes to progress reports.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work fulltime during the school year and in the summer during Extended School Year (ESY).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills both in written and spoken word.
  • Previous special education experience preferred.
