Job Description

Rooted in our Catholic faith and inspired by the multiple talents of our namesake Pope Saint John Paul II Preparatory School prepares students to be strong in mind body character and spiritdiscovering their Godgiven talents and using them to serve both the community. We seek a compassionate missiondriven Middle School Counselor to join our 612 grade community. This fulltime position supports the social emotional and academic development of students in grades 68 helping them grow into confident and resilient young people.

The ideal candidate is a warm and approachable professional who brings both clinical knowledge and a heart for service. This individual will work closely with students families faculty and administrators to cultivate a supportive welcoming and faithfilled school culture that reflects our commitment to wholeperson development.

We value faculty and staff who embrace our visioneducators who are not only excellent in their field but who also engage actively in the life of the school through mentoring collaboration and communitybuilding. Our ideal candidate will desire to:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to support students emotional wellbeing academic progress and personal growth.
  • Assist students in developing strong coping skills conflict resolution strategies and healthy peer relationships.
  • Guide students through academic goalsetting and problemsolving as they transition through middle school.
  • Support students facing personal social or behavioral challenges while collaborating with families and outside professionals when appropriate.
  • Serve as a key liaison between students parents and teachers to promote student success and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with the high school counseling team to ensure a smooth transition to 9th grade.
  • Deliver ageappropriate programming on topics such as digital citizenship mental health awareness and valuesbased decisionmaking.
  • Participate in the life of the school including liturgies retreats community events and service initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with school policies and best practices.
  • Coordinate and administer testing for middle school students and collaborate with the academic office to measure progress.
  • Contribute to the student achievement and growth by being part of the Student Support Team

Requirements

We consider all candidates who apply for the position. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A commitment to serving in a Catholic faithbased community
  • A Masters degree in School Counseling
  • Current licensure or certification in school counseling
  • Previous experience working with middle school students in an educational or counseling setting
  • Strong interpersonal communication and listening skills
  • Ability to develop trusting relationships with adolescents parents and colleagues
  • Capacity to collaborate with faculty staff and leadership on student wellness and support plans
  • A growth mindset and a heart for studentcentered service
  • Organized and responsible manager of data and resources
