Summary:

In general direction incumbent handles the student achievement intervention for the assigned school(s) to meet each students academic behavior social and emotional needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Handles the student achievement intervention to meet the students academic behavior social and emotional needs.
    • Facilitates data and progress meetings.
    • Facilitates individual student academic behavior social and emotional goals and plans.
    • Works with teachers who are implementing and monitoring goals and plans.
    • Models and/or coteaches in the classroom or in small groups.
    • Performs progress monitoring of students and their goals/plans.
  • Develops and provides professional development related to climate and culture to teachers staff and students.
  • Develops system to define targeted students. Maintains and analyzes ongoing progress and data to support it.
  • Researches effective strategies and programs.
  • Performs root cause analysis for targeted students.
  • Provides mentorship to individual students and student groups.
  • Develops and maintains mentorship program for targeted students. Coordinates with Districts mentorship programs.
  • Acts as a liaison on various District and school committees such as the schools child study team.
  • Builds positive educational relationships and collaborates with administration teachers staff students parents and other stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

  • Bachelors degree in counseling education or related field;
  • Three years of teaching experience;
  • Possession of valid Arizona teacher certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

  • Masters degree in counseling educational leadership or related field;
  • Teaching experience in multiple grade levels and/or subject areas;
  • Teaching experience in a public school system;
  • Teaching experience in a Title I school;
  • Possession of a valid CPI Certification Card.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Utilizing WESD Board policies including truancy discipline tardiness etc.;
  • Demonstrating child development theories;
  • Knowing basic mathematical concepts;
  • Using typical activities within a classroom environment;
  • Being a positive influence with children;
  • Demonstrating appropriate techniques and procedures;
  • Facilitating group activities in a learning environment;
  • Applying school rules policies and procedures;
  • Organizing and prioritizing work activities;
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships;
  • Using computer software related programs;
  • Engaging and encouraging communication skills while interacting with supervisors staff students etc. to exchange information.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger handle or feel. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision and ability to adjust focus.
