You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is responsible for preparing and delivering Basic Life Support classes focusing on how to respond in cardiac emergencies. They are responsible for planning preparing and delivering BLS courses. They manage class logistics and ensure quality and effectiveness of CPR training. The majority of classes are adult healthcare provider BLS however select infant child and Heartsaver CPR AED courses are offered The position reports to the Director of Interprofessional & Academic Education with oversight from the Education Lead Nursing.

Qualifications/Skills:
High school diploma is required and an undergraduate degree/diploma is strongly preferred
A minimum of 3 years of BLS teaching experience is required
Experience working as a health professional or in a health related role or field is preferred
Certification as a BLS Instructor with the Heart & Stroke Foundation is required
First aid training from an authorized provider (e.g. Red Cross or Lifesaving Society) is required
Must have strong knowledge of CPR techniques including chest compressions rescue breaths and AED use
Should have proficiency in using instructional tools and education technology for delivering CPR training
Should have knowledge of adult education principles the ability to adapt teaching strategies for different learners and be able to provide timely relevant and actionable feedback
Must be able to create a supportive learning environment
Excellent communication problem solving & time management are skills required
Part-Time
