As an Engineering Manager youll lead efforts to transform our InfrastructureasCode (IaC) practices driving consistency reliability and speed across our cloud platforms. Youll own the development of IaC standards best practices and delivery pipelines enabling teams to build and scale infrastructure safely and efficiently. With a platformfirst mindset youll champion automation in infrastructure deliveryreducing manual toil and accelerating our path to full infrastructure automation. Your leadership will ensure our infrastructure foundations remain resilient reusable and ready for global scale.
The ideal candidate has a passion for Infrastructure as Code and building robust delivery pipelines. You take pride in setting high standards for code quality and maintainability and you thrive in environments where excellence in engineering practices is the norm. You lead a team of talented software and site reliability engineers guiding them in developing scalable and efficient IaC delivery pipelines. You are driven to define and enforce coding standards that promote clarity security and operational excellence across the organization. You believe in making informed datadriven decisions and use metrics and insights to continuously improve systems and team performance.
What Youll Do
Location:Boston This role can be mostly remote but wed like folks nearby for the important stuff
Reports to: Senior Engineering Manager
Direct Reports: 48 Software and SRE Engineers
- Leading a team of experienced engineers focused on building a fast reliable and scalable infrastructure delivery pipeline.
- Championing and enforcing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices and coding standards.
- Leading the technical direction of the team through architectural discussions
- Driving the execution of your team by leading planning prioritization standups and team retro meetings.
- Lead large scale projects that impact multiple engineering teams.
- Working with product managers senior engineers and client teams to get ahead of the curve and explore new opportunities.
- Join forces with recruiting to hire a topnotch engineering team.
- Managing engineers and their careers with 1:1s and performance reviews.
What You Bring
- 8 years of applicable experience and 3 as a manager
- A track record of planning and delivering on multiple overlapping projects spanning several months
- Experience implementing an engineering process that emphasized security availability scalability and operational discipline
- Strong experience with Terraform Terragrunt and CI/CD
- Experience managing cloud platforms such as Azure AWS or similar.
- Experience with Crossplane or Pulumi would be a plus
- Experience using managed languages such as Go and Python or similar
- Experience operating in Kubernetes platforms like AKS EKS or similar.
- Empathy to support the needs of software engineers.

Pay Transparency
The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company meaning compensation is made up of base pay bonus and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 142500 in the lowest geographic market and USD 228000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors such as: level function training transferable skills work experience business needs geographic market and often a combination of all these factors.
