Job Description

The start date of this position will be July 1 2025. This is a 225 day contract.

SALARY: TBD for theschool year. Currently $106411.36 $123468.16 DOE

Insurance:Generous Health dental and vision contribution from the district currently up to $2179 (based upon family coverage) TBD for.

PERS Retirement:The district assumes and pays the 6% average employee contribution to the Oregon PERS system.

Retiree Benefits: An administrator who retires from KFCS and from PERS with at least ten consecutive years of experience as an administrator in the district immediately prior to retirement will receivethe following retirement benefits:

One percent (1%) of the administrators final base salary per month for a total of eightfour (84) months.

AND

Medical insurance premiums for the administrator and spouse (if necessary) for a total of eightyfour (84) months. When an administrator retires the District will contribute up to the employee only cap orthe employeespouse cap. Should the district contribution be insufficient to pay for the monthly cost of the insurance then the parties agree that the excess insurance premium contribution will be made bythe retiree.

Position:

Assistant Principal

Position Summary:

The job of the Assistant Principal is done for the purpose of supporting the Middle School Principal performing school site activities as may be delegated by the Principal; representing the school within the district and community. The Assistant Principal provides a wide variety of services to assist the Principal in the administration of the school including monitoring of the instructional and extracurricular programs supervision and evaluation of licensed and classified staff maintaining student discipline scheduling classes preparation of reports records and other required paperwork. The Assistant Principal may be required to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.

Function:

Assist the principal with student management and discipline staff development selection of staff evaluation of licensed and classified staff curriculum and instruction.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist the principal in the monitoring of the instructional and extracurricular programs
  • Attends and supervises schoolsponsored activities
  • Assists the principal in the improvement of the instructional programs
  • Assists and evaluates implementation and use of technology in the classroom instruction and throughout the building
  • Assists the principal in the supervision and evaluation of the performance of licensed and classified staff
  • Assists in the development of class schedules and staff schedules to meet the needs of the students
  • Assists the principal in maintaining effective student discipline and in promoting a positive teachinglearning environment within the school
  • Works with parents and others in the community to promote a positive working relationship between the school and the community
  • Prepares reports maintains school records and handles other administrative matters as required (such as by not limited to Attendance 504s and Athletic Director responsibilities for schoolsponsored sports)
  • Assumes the principal duties in the absence of the principal
  • Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities

Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintains consistent and predictable attendance to meet the requirements of the position
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience Required

  • A minimum of a Masters degree in an appropriate field in education.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing with staff parents and the public in English.
  • Ability to work individually and in partnerships with a minimum of directions
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy
  • Ability to deal with students and parents in often difficult circumstances
  • High visibility at school and in the community and hold high expectations for students and staff
  • Work well with others from diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize
  • Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students staff and district patrons

Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Knowledge of ageappropriate teaching methods state curriculum framework and education code
  • Knowledge of Oregon laws and school reform

Abilities:

  • Demonstrates command of oral and written English language
  • A positive team approach to leadership and management
  • Ability to motivate direct and support staff
  • Ability to effectively work and communicate with students parents and school personnel from diverse backgrounds in English Spanish or other language related to the job
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others

License Certifications Bonding and/or Required:

  • Holds an administrative license from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Oregon
  • Holds a current teaching license from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Oregon is preferred
