ESSENTIAL DUTIES FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform calculations applying standard formulas prepare graphs curves and tables for other engineers. Record factual data in tests and observation studies. Perform drafting and minor detail designs and searches technical reports to obtain information.
    • Establish goals objectives priorities schedules and budgets for approved capital improvement projects (CIP). Manages performance measurement systems related to CIPs.
    • Provides coordination and direction required to assure compliance with applicable Federal State and Tribal building codes contract specifications and scope of work from pre to post construction activities.
    • Assignments involving major building systems including heating ventilation air conditioning plumbing fire protection architectural systems electrical distribution and medical gases.
    • Conducts regular quarterly inspections of facilities to identify and resolve issues.
    • Inspect maintenance tasks to ensure the hospitals infrastructure and equipment are in good working condition.
    • Oversee the development of drawings and specifications for routine projects. Substantial leading roles in complex projects.
    • Works Central Plant for utility monitoring control systems and facility energy management control systems.
    • Performs tasks involved in energy and lifecycle costs analysis of mechanical systems and equipment.
    • Brings major deviations to the attention of the supervisor provides engineering oversight of assigned facility repair and/or construction projects and may serve as lead for projects involving contractors.
    • Confirms existing conditions and examines new conditions to ensure facilities information database integrity for various facilities tracking systems (i.e. MPulse etc.).
    • Participates in the consultant and construction service vendor selection contract negotiation and administration where applicable.
    • Coordinates preconstruction and construction activities with other departments and outside agencies and organizations; prepares and presents reports and other necessary correspondence to the Leadership Council and the FDIHB Board of Directors.
    • Establishes and maintains electronic database and contract management programs or capital improvement project tracking system(s). Tracks and controls construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and budget allocated.
    • Coordinates with other departments utility companies and other agencies to facilitate timely completion of projects.
    • Attends meetings with local community chapters governmental agencies construction industry representatives consultants contractors or professional and technical associations. May represent FDIHB at meetings and present status reports on projects.
    • Monitors assigned construction project budgets in collaboration with Finance personnel including related data collection and analysis and provides budgetary reports as required or as requested.
    • Prepares and presents both written and oral reports of a technical and administrative nature to the Leadership Council department directors/managers FDIHB Board of Directors and others as needed.
    • Meets periodically with executive personnel to review status exchange information and seek opportunities for innovative practices methods or procedures of construction activities.
    • Creates Monthly Reports for the Director of Facilities and Chief Administrative Officer for budgeting and progression.
    • Recommends work sequences as necessary to the Facility Manager and Director of Facilities for procedures under their control to overcome problems such as equipment failure structural changes or repairs and other related engineering duties.
    • Complies with all reporting requirements involving incidences I coordination with Risk Safety Infection Control and Quality departments.
    • Develops short and long term plans based on assessments of life span of related equipment and machinery.
    • Strategic plan for the organization on a timeline to replace equipment and machinery.
    • Emergency Preparedness tasks associated with facility planning and operational effectiveness.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience:

    Four (4) years of direct work experience as an engineer.

    Education:

    Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Structural Engineering Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
