Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Bilingual Education & Outreach Specialist is part of a team that develops and implements the organizations community education and outreach plan to expand clients access to Lauras House services and build relationships with community partners. The positions primary accountabilities are the (1) implementation of the strategic outreach plan (2) facilitation of targeted outreach to youth with the Healthy Emotions Attitudes and Relationships Today program and (3) facilitation of community service workshops and adult DV education (4) coordination and participation in the 40hour Domestic Violence Advocate training and (5) program development implementation evaluation and data management.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Collaborate with all Lauras House staff to carry out strategic community education and outreach plan to expand access to Lauras House services on behalf of unserved or underserved client groups.
  2. Collaborate and coordinate closely with other Education & Outreach staff members.
  3. Execute the strategic outreach plan by completing telephone and inperson interactions with existing and potential community partners and schools.
  4. Represent Lauras House at networking events meetings and outreach events.
  5. Provide dating violence prevention workshops for youth and adults using the Healthy Emotions Attitudes and Relationships Today (H.E.A.R.T.) curriculum.
  6. Coordinate and administer 40hour Domestic Violence Advocate training for new volunteers and employees with community partners guest speakers and Lauras House staff.
  7. Provide community service workshops and adult education to community members nonprofit agencies governmental agencies and universities with the library of adult curriculum.
  8. Oversee the recruitment and administration of volunteers and interns as needed.
  9. Monitor Lauras House Teen Web site; respond to emails as needed.
  10. Compile statistical and descriptive information for contract and other reporting requirements as needed.
  11. Enter and manage statistical data for H.E.A.R.T. program.
  12. Provide administrative support to the Education & Outreach Department.
  13. . Provide referrals as appropriate and as needed.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Maintain the confidentiality of client staff volunteer and agency information. Exceptions include information pertaining to child abuse elder abuse danger to self or others or in response to an authorized release of information.
  2. Adhere to agency policies and protocols related to the security of electronic client service records. Maintain the highest levels of accuracy in recordkeeping and reporting ensuring that all client records and documentation of outreach training and other work tasks are complete and uptodate and submitted to supervisor as directed.
  3. Maintain an uptodate shared calendar as directed. Carry out other duties as necessary to ensure organizational success. Employees are encouraged to be flexible and responsive to changes in scope of duties.
  4. Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and other staff.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Represent the agency in a positive professional manner at all times.
  2. Be punctual to all onsite and offsite duties.
  3. Maintain confidentiality of all clients staff volunteer and agency information.
  4. Maintain a tidy organized work area.
  5. Participate in agency functions as a participant or presenter as needed.
  6. Evening and weekend hours as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelors degree in social science or related field or equivalent experience required.
  2. Public speaking and/or training experience preferred.
  3. 40hour domestic violence training as required by law. (may be completed upon hiring)

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Bilingual Spanish required.
  2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  3. Excellent public speaking skills
  4. Advanced computer skills; Excel Word

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid drivers license; reliable transportation and insurance.
  2. Employees are occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl; communicate clearly both audibly and written. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
