The Team:
The Archaeology Branch is a dedicated team within the Forest Resiliency and Archaeology Division at the Ministry of Forests working to protect and celebrate British Columbias rich archaeological heritage. This team plays a key role in reviewing permit applications under the Heritage Conservation Act maintaining the provincial heritage register and ensuring responsible access to archaeological information. The Role:
As an Archaeology Permitting Officer you contribute to safeguarding British Columbias archaeological heritage by reviewing permit applications under the Heritage Conservation Act ensuring compliance with legislation and policy and guiding professional standards in the field. You will work closely with First Nations government partners and industry to support respectful consultation provide expert advice and promote informed decisionmaking. This position also contributes to policy development quality assurance and investigations helping to uphold the integrity of cultural resource management across the province.

About this Position:
Amendment May 9th 2025: job requirement updated for experience in archaeological resource management.
There are currently two (2) temporary opportunities available until September 30th 2025; these may be extended or become permanent.
These positions can be based in any office of the Ministry of Forests. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Depending on the successful candidates location a biweekly isolation allowance may apply.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
