Job Description

Summary/Objective

Assist the Principal in the administration of instructional leadership to staff including: curriculum planning review and implementation; and professional development. Responsible for daytoday building administration and the safety and welfare of students staff and activities. Ensure a safe pleasant and effective educational atmosphere.

Essential Functions

  1. Respond to all internal and external customers as it relates to job in a prompt efficient friendly and patient manner
  2. Serve as administrative head of school in the absence of the principal
  3. Administer a program of student discipline and interact with students to encourage positive performance
  4. Assist with staff evaluations
  5. Assist in management of building staff including class schedules and building problems
  6. Assist in scheduling special events during the school day
  7. Assist with the development and coordination of the master schedule
  8. Provide general supervision to students
  9. Supervise extracurricular activities
  10. Maintain positive relationships with parents and the community

Supervisory Responsibility

In conjunction with the school principal carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the districts policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  1. Regularly required to communicate detect converse with discern convey express oneself and exchange information with faculty students and visitors.
  2. Regularly required to detect determine perceive identify recognize judge observe inspect estimate and assess details as needed to complete job functions.
  3. Regularly required to remain stationary type and focus on a computer screen for long periods of time.
  4. Ability to move transport position put install and remove items up to 10 pounds as needed.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a fulltime exempt position contracted for 172 days. Incumbent may regularly work extended hours in the performance of duties.

Required Education and Experience

Masters or more advanced degree from an accredited institution with completion of applicable coursework relative to obtaining a Principal PreK12 certificate through the Arizona Department of Education and three or more years of fulltime teaching experience in PreKGrade 12; or any combination of education and experience that will allow the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of the position and obtain appropriate licensure through the State of Arizona.

Required Certifications/Licenses

  1. Arizona Standard Professional Principal PreKindergarten12 Certificate
  2. Valid drivers license

Preferred Education and Experience

Administrative experience in a school environment

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be able to pass a criminal history check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
