    OPRF WHO WE ARE
    Oak Park and River Forest High School or OPRF is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park Ill. a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a oneschool district with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses a variety of programs for students with special needs 75 clubs and activities and 29 competitive sports. We prepare our students well for postsecondary success with an average ACT composite score of 24 and a 94% graduation rate.

    Oak Park and River Forest are communities that highly value diversity. OPRF is a founding member of the national Minority Student Achievement Network and our school is racially and economically diverse with about 44% of our 3300 students identifying as AfricanAmerican Hispanic multiracial or Asian.     Certifications/Education:
    1. High School Diploma.
    2. Some college preferred.
    3. Law enforcement classes or training preferred.

    Qualifications:
    1. Must be at least 21 years old.
    2. Experience with adolescents required; human services work experience desirable.
    3. Must successfully attend and complete mandatory training including ICS (series 300 400 and 800) if designated to participate.
    4. Must attend designated training and professional development and expected to work during the senior graduation ceremony.
    5. Must demonstrate the following:
    to maintain composure in volatile situations.
    to reduce the level or intensity of a difficult or dangerous situation.
    c. Mastery of interpersonal skills in communicating with students faculty/staff parents & community members and law enforcement/fire/medical personnel.
    to maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with supervisor(s) SIDS administrators and any other contacts associated with the position.
    e. Good physical condition; able to run stand for long periods of time and run up stairs quickly in responding to calls for assistance.
    be strong enough to physically restrain a student if necessary.
    the job is offered candidate must have physicians certification to physical ability to perform rigors of position before appointment receives final approval.
    have a valid Drivers License.

    Position Summary:
    Daily supervision of students school building grounds and perimeter of school in concert with other security personnel under the direction of supervisor(s) to ensure safety of pupils personnel visitors and property as well as maintenance of OPRFHS Code of Conduct and other applicable rules.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    1. Supervise interior and exterior of school grounds and in concert with other security personnel as assigned.
    2. Promote and maintain consistency among all security personnel in approaching individuals and in referring students to the Student Intervention Director for school rule infractions.
    3. Responsible for securing valuable lost and found items including securing and logging items and returning items when individuals appear to reclaim.
    4. Respond to requests for assistance whenever on duty.
    5. Investigate all student misconduct and complaints made against nonstudents.
    6. Refer all concerns and findings to Director of Campus Safety.
    7. Responsible for assigning and accessing lockers; all related documentation
    8. Prepares written incident reports or other reports as necessary.
    9. Using the Degree Point System when patrolling the campus.
    10. Experienced in working with Easy Lobby System.
    11. Escort students to the community library to assure safety and security of students and the community.
    12. Experienced in Easy Lobby System.
    13. May be required to work extended hours as needs arise.
    14. Responsible for delivering discipline letters within the community using the Districts security vehicle. Requires knowledge of the Oak Park and River Forest area for delivering Discipline Letters.
    15. Provide coverage of the inschool suspension room when necessary.
    16. Other duties as assigned.

    Physical Demands:
    While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to:
    • Sit stand talk run quickly and hear for extended periods of time operate electronic equipment; and reach with hands and arms and will repeat actions with the same hand arm or finger motion.
    • Have occasional lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling and dexterity actions within job standards.
    • Meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
    • Interact with the public and staff;
    • Physically restrain students if necessary.
    • After the position is preliminarily offered to a candidate candidate must have physicians certification of physical ability to perform rigors of position before appointment receives finale approval.

    Work Environment:
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
    • The work places the individual in frequent high density settings with students and staff.
    • Position involves working both indoors and occasionally outdoors.

    Employee Performance Evaluation: Job performance evaluations are completed annually by the Director of Security.
