Job Description

Term of Employment:210 days

Position Criteria:

  • Associates degree
  • Strong knowledge of Food & Nutrition Services applicable laws regulations guidelines professional standards food safety and work safety
  • ServSafe certification required (within 90 days of employment)
  • Experience in training adult learners
  • Experience in large quantity institution meal planning and preparation

Performance Criteria:

  • Assist with labor needs including interviewing and hiring.
  • Design coordinate and deliver onboarding and ongoing training for Nutrition Services Staff including Kitchen Supervisors Cooks General Workers and substitutes.
  • Ensures that training materials and programs comply with USDA state local and district regulation. Reviews existing training program; suggests enhancements and modifications to improve engagement learning and retention.
  • Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness through observations assessments and feedback from participants
  • Collaborate with Nutrition Office staff and Kitchen Supervisors to identify needs and opportunities that training could improve; creates conducts or facilitates required and recommended training sessions.
  • Assist with menu development (taste testing standardizing recipes and implementing process)
  • Assist in completing site inspections to verify that all operation procedures cleanliness health and safety are being maintained according to state and local health regulations Federal and departmental guidelines
  • Nutrition Software Assist nutrition staff with support regarding online nutrition software procedures and manage back of the house software system (inventory & production records). Providing training to all new employees.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) across kitchen operations. Assist with implementation of HACCP and create best practices. Maintain updated HACCP plan.
  • Assist Kitchen Supervisors in developing procedures work schedules etc.
  • Fill in for any kitchen position in the nutrition department as needed including as a Supervisor.
  • Maintain open communication and cooperative relationships with others inspire individual and team development actively participate in meetings and work groups and support the goals and objectives of the district and the department.
  • Assist with taking parent calls concerning childrens lunch account
  • Attend meetings and serve on committees to represent the department as assigned
  • Prepare and maintain reports as requested by the Nutrition Services Director
  • Maintain accurate documentation of training sessions and employee progress for compliance and audit purposes. Track and ensure all staff receive minimum CEU training hours as required by USDA.
  • Teach and proctor ServSafe
  • Stay current with Federal and State regulations affecting Child Nutrition programs
  • Perform related duties as assigned
