PURPOSE OF JOB: Provide leadership for the schools entire athletic program through the ongoing development implementation and improvement of the specific sport coached.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish a program that ensures a cooperative supportive and participative environment for all students coaches faculty and the community based on KCMSD Athletic Department guidelines;
- Provide leadership that is proactive and positive that will emphasize the physical psychological and social benefits of interscholastic athletics;
- Create short and long range goals for the schools athletic program that fits with the schools academic program culture and KCMSD goals;
- Ensure compliance of the program with MSHSAA standards;
- Check & ensure studentathlete meets MSHSAA eligibility standards on a weekly basis
- Update MSHSAA website for studentathlete eligibility
- Answer Transfer Requests from MSHSAA for studentathletes that have transferred to/from other institutions;
- Responsible for the supervision & evaluation of all athletic coaches in the building;
- Responsible for participating in the interviewing process for coaches;
- Communicate with District Athletic Department re: onsite issues/successes;
- Participate in monthly District Athletic Department meetings concerning League business and extended scheduling;
- Attend all home athletic contests and/or appoint administrative personnel to attend and supervise home athletic contests;
- Responsible for obtaining the advertising information printing and selling of programs or varsity contests (may assign a designee to do this);
- Ensure facilities are gameday ready;
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Head Coach(es) and StudentAthletes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be employed as a teacher or administrator in the school in which the candidate applies;
- Must hold a valid teachers certificate and be contracted by the KCMSD BOE for the school year as a full or parttime teacher;
- Must have at least 3 years of athletic administrative experience;
- Must fulfill 8 contact hours of professional development;
- District Level Meetings4 hours
- School Level Meetings3 hours
- Outside Meetings1 hour
- Knowledge of the overall operation of athletic program
- First Aid/CPR certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Have or in progress for a graduate degree with emphasis in Sports Administration Public Administration or similar degree plans.
