This is a full time 37.50 hour per week position covered under a collective bargaining agreement with the Marblehead Municipal Employees Union.
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Library Director the Technical Services Supervisor oversees coordinates participates in and continually enhances all aspects of technical services operations. This role encompasses tasks such as ordering receiving managing invoices cataloging processing and all other related activities. The work schedule includes evenings and weekends.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises and trains technical services staff.
Manages and supervises the creation of records for all materials that are ordered received cataloged and processed for inclusion in the Librarys collections.
Oversees the removal of materials from the Librarys collections.
Tracks expenditure of Librarys materials budget by individual selectors. Coordinates and oversees payment of invoices for materials purchased.
Covers reference and circulation desks as scheduled.
Stays informed regarding current issues and trends related to library technical services. Represents the library at professional workshops or conferences (when funding is available).
In consultation with the Director acts as the primary liaison with the North of Boston Library Exchange (NOBLE). This role involves developing policies and procedures regarding work with NOBLE as well as making decisions related to the Librarys computer equipment. Additionally it includes coordinating necessary maintenance and repair services of the librarys computer equipment.
Provides input on Technical Services issues for the Director as needed.
Performs other duties as requested by the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Masters Degree in Library Science with 46 years of experience in library technical services with a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience. Advanced skills in working with library computer system records; flexibility; dependability; ability to function effectively as both team member and team leader; excellent computer literacy skills and knowledge of emerging technologies. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
