Civil Service Title Administrative Project Manager

Serves as a Project Manager/EngineerinCharge in the Bureau of Capital Design and Construction. Directly manage the profession and technical staff including consultants engaged in overseeing the execution of complex capital construction reconstruction and rehabilitation contracts directs all function pertaining to the construction and rehabilitation of the Citys bridges and relate structures makes decisions which impact the Citys capital budget and capital construction performs extremely difficult complex work in the capacity of directing the execution of large complex capital construction project in a costeffective manner oversees the review of all contract documents reports and the planning scheduling of contract work exercises the full administrative and technical responsibilities for planning organizing and directing staff in the management of construction projects directs the preparation of scopes and specifications for construction contracts. when designated serves as liaison to outside agencies and offices including NYSDOT and the FHWA to ensure the proper engineering coordination and review of joint projects advises the Director on development of goals and objectives and the evaluation of contractor performance and the consultants supervising construction projects reviews and approves final cost estimates on construction work to be performed and directs a large staff of construction professionals engaged in overseeing the execution of capital construction projects.

Ability to communicate effective in verbal and written form.
Knowledge of current civil design and construction practices and techniques.
Ability to supervise a staff of engineers in the planning organizing coordination and control; of the various phases of complex capital construction.

ADMINISTRATIVE PROJECT MANAGER 8300B
Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering architecture landscape architecture business administration or public administration and five years of fulltime satisfactory experience in the planning administering or expediting of engineering design and/or construction or coordinating a very large engineering project two years of which must have been in an administrative managerial executive or supervisory capacity; or
2. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine years of experience as described in 1 above; two years of which must have been in an administrative managerial executive or supervisory capacity; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above. An accredited Masters degree in one of the disciplines described in 1 above a law degree or a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect or Landscape Architect may be substituted for one year of the required experience. However all candidates must have the two years of the administrative managerial executive or supervisory experience as described in 1 above.
