Job Description
JOB TITLE: Certified Surgical Tech/ Certified Coder (PartTime)
Key Responsibilities:
Surgical Technologist Duties (approx. 50%):
Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments equipment and supplies.
Assist surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures.
Maintain a sterile field and pass instruments and supplies.
Monitor inventory and ensure proper sterilization of equipment.
Adhere to safety protocols and infection control standards.
Certified Coder Duties (approx. 50%):
Review operative notes and medical records for accurate documentation.
Review operative notes and medical records for accurate documentation.
Assign appropriate ICD10CM CPT and HCPCS codes for surgical procedures.
Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with regulations and payer guidelines.
Collaborate with surgeons and clinical staff to clarify documentation.
Qualifications:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST).
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or equivalent.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong communication skills for crossfunctional teamwork.
Working Conditions:
- Split between clinical (OR) and administrative environments.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift/move surgical equipment when needed.
- May require flexible scheduling based on surgical case volume.
