Job Description

The Assistant Public Works Directors under general and specific administrative direction directs manages supervises and coordinates assigned programs and activities within the Public Works Department and coordinates assigned activities with other divisions and outside agencies; while also providing highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director of Public Works. This is a broad classification with individual positions assigned to specific functional areas; duties and assignments may overlap depending on the operational needs of the department and staffing levels.
This role aligns employees and service areas with their mission(s) reinforces commitment to their purpose by sharing performance indicators and drives continuous improvements to deliver superior service delivery. Responsible for developing employees through constructive feedback performance evaluations and professional development. Demonstrates fiscal stewardship with an understanding of budgeting and oversight of public funds.

Our Type:Our next Assistant Public Works Directors understand tactful and courteous communication with members of the public. We are looking for a candidate that can work independently and in a team with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fastpaced environment is critical for success in the role as are high levels of accuracy timeliness and dependability. We are looking for someone who can provide exceptional customer service for a variety of coworkers supervisors and the public with professionalism and patience.
The ideal candidate is hardworking patient and detail oriented. You listen to your superiors and coworkers. You are diligent and able to multitask so your work gets completed in an organized fashion. You follow through and are accountable for all actions. Being at work on time is a priority along with following all safety protocols. When an emergency arises you are not easily flustered but are willing to work hard to help in any way within the Public Works Leadership Team. At the end of the day you get great satisfaction from successfully helping our citizens and leading a municipal Public Works Department. If you can do those things and meet the following requirements we would be happy to speak with you:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management Public Administration Business Administration or a related field. AND
- At least five (5) years of public works experience. Five (5) must have been spent in a supervisory role. OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides knowledge skills and abilities.
- Valid Texas Class C Drivers License
Compensation: ExemptFLSA status salary range is $88238.40 $132357.60 (DOE).
