The Arizona Department of Public Safety is seeking motivated and experienced personnel to join our team in the Tucson area. Detention Transport Supervisors provide general supervision to Detention Transport Officers (DTO) engaged in the performance of their duties while supporting the Highway Patrol and Criminal Investigations Divisions with their mission by processing transporting and booking detained or arrested persons. Ensures DTOs perform their duties and responsibilities and comply with General Orders and any division or bureau orders. Trains subordinate personnel; conducts inspections; identifies potential problem areas within the processing of prisoners; performs related duties as assigned. This recruitment is to establish an 18month eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies in theTucson area.
Note: Applicants who are currently classified as Detention Transport Officers with AZDPS are excluded from completing the Physical Assessment but are required to successfully complete the QAB examination for placement on the eligibility list.
Requires at least three (3) years of experience in the detention and/or transportation of prisoners/detainees while working in a jail facility law enforcement capacity or related field. Must be at least 18 years of age by hire date. Any combination of training education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver license by hire date.
Must be able to work any hours including weekends holidays rotating shifts callouts and overtime.
Must successfully complete the Departmentselected detention transport training program. This requirement may be waived if an approved training program has been completed or similar work has been performed within the last five years.
Progression to the next step requires an overall performance rating of at least Standard in the last 12 months.
Applicants must complete an examination process. A polygraph and background investigation are required for successful applicants. DPS supports a drugfree work environment through preemployment drug testing.
