Qualifications:
- Current Dental Assistant Certification (CDA preferred) and/or RDH designation.
- Bachelors Degree in a related field preferred.
- Teaching experience in a dental assisting program preferred.
- Must obtain DESE career education teaching certification within the first two (2) years of employment.

Summary
The Dental Assisting Program Coordinator must demonstrate the following:
- Provides leadership and assures the general effectiveness of the Dental Assisting program. Maintains continued approval and/or accreditation of the program.
- Provides leadership for the program of study and is responsible for program effectiveness including outcomes organization administration continuous review planning and development.
- Provides subject matter expertise and actively participates in the curriculum development revision and implementation process.
Essential Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Verify student textbooks and resource materials have been updated as needed textbooks and resource materials match program cost sheet and are ordered in ample time so as to become available when needed for classroom and/or lab instruction.
Prior to Clinical/Externship Site Participation:
- Verify student drug testing has been scheduled completed and results obtained per program requirements.
- Verify student background screenings have been scheduled completed and results obtained per program requirements.
- Verify student immunization records for program and clinical site compliance.
- Schedule CPR training and testing and verify certification status.
- Coordinate and order student uniforms upon verifying sizes cost vendor(s) and providing quotes.
Clinical and Externship Site Responsibilities:
- Schedule and monitor student clinical rotations/externships to ensure program compliance.
- Communicate with area dental offices as needed regarding site availability student performance and student placement.
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinating planning and implementing didactic and clinical instruction for the entire program.
- Recruitment of interested persons as future students for the program.
- Communicate with the community and dental community to implement new ideas and improvements for the program through multiple media avenues and advisory committee meetings.
- Work with Administration on program budget needs wants and improvements.

- Ability to understand and follow Board policies administrative procedures and training and handbook materials.
Physical Demands:
An individual who holds this position must have ability to stand for long periods of time frequently bend and twist the torso and neck. They must have the ability to frequently use repetitive arm wrist and hand movements. Ability to speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously.
