Job Description

Our Opportunity:

Chewy is growing! We are lookingfor a passionate datadriven Senior Merchandising Analytics Managerto join our Merchandising Analytics Team. Within Chewy the Merchandising Analytics team is focused on applying data to understand and influence business actions to drive favorable financial performance and exceptional customer experience for our pet parents. In this role the Senior Merchandising Analytics Manager will directly support our Category Management Analytics function with an emphasis on Promotions Analytics. They will be responsible for programmatic analytical deep dives on promotion efficacy provide ongoing recommendations and program leading promotional reporting including building and maintaining core reporting tools to drive continuous improvements in business decision making processes analyzing Merchandising data sets to address complex problems. The ideal candidate will have an exemplary background in analytics a deep understanding of datadriven decisionmaking a passion for getting results in a fastpaced environment and confirmed experience in delivering decisionoriented insights for senior leadership. This individual is also highly proficient in developing and driving crossfunctional project plans while being able to operate with minimal direction from leadership. Additionally the individual would partner closely with the Data Science team to develop roadmaps to increase the assessment of promotional activity. The person in this role will work with crossfunctional teams throughout the organization to optimize promotion strategy.

What youll do:

  • Lead the development of bestinclass analyses for evaluating promotional effectiveness with respect to financial performance product assortment site placement and customer experience measures partnering with senior crossfunctional partners to clarify problem statements and scope
  • Independently find opportunities for application of advanced analytical solutions and models ultimately deploying these solutions independently or with support from Business Analysts
  • Leverage large data sets and write advanced SQL code efficiently combining multiple sources to surface actionable insights that support Merchandising in making data driven decisions
  • Develop a centralized repository of insights on promotion performance and deliver recommendations to business partners for enhancing specific business outcomes
  • Program manages crossfunctional analytics initiatives that require development of new data tables and fields data products and tools for both internal and external partners
  • Partner with business analysts and data engineering teams to prioritize and QA development of new data sources tables metrics and products
  • Support Merchandising leadership in understanding and influencing business inputs to drive favorable outputs across customer experience and financial metrics
  • Intake translate prioritize business partner inputs to inform new data products and enhance existing reports
  • Communicate findings and influence partners at various levels
  • Lead coach and mentor business analysts to help them deliver results develop analytical skills and grow their careers

What youll need:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (e.g. Analytics Statistics Mathematics Economics Information Management) or related field with analytical emphasis.
  • 5 years of directly transferrable work experience (e.g. data analysis and modeling data visualization forecasting ETL processes etc.)
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL Excel and various technologies such as R Python etc.
  • Advanced data visualization skills using software such as Tableau Power BI etc.
  • Thorough understanding of Financial critical metrics and P&L statement with proficiency in implementing breakeven analyses NPV and return on investment analyses
  • High degree of proficiency with completing complex data analyses
  • Ability to independently lead crossfunctional projects delivering high quality results on timelines
  • Strong understand of Ecommerce pricing and promotion critical metrics
  • High degree of proficiency driving complex and largescale data analyses across millions of records
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical collaborators and senior leadership
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing and relational or columnar database structure
  • Superior attention to detail and experience creating mechanisms to monitor data integrity
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous environments with speed and commitment to quality
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
