Job Description

Position Summary

The University of Denver is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Club Dance Coach to lead our Club Dance team for theseason. This position requires an experienced coach with a strong background in dance choreography and leading a team of varying skill levels to competition. The ideal candidate will foster a supportive disciplined and motivating environment to help studentathletes reach their full potential.

This is a nonbenefited position not to exceed 1000 hours in a calendar year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and teach competitive dance programs including various skill levels.
  • Create a safe supportive and inclusive training environment for all athletes ensuring adherence to team and university standards.
  • Develop seasonal training plans prepare athletes for competition and provide strategic coaching to help club members achieve personal and team goals.
  • Monitor individual athlete progress adjust choreography as needed and provide ongoing feedback to each Club Dance athlete throughout the season.
  • Promote team culture and encourage sportsmanship discipline and accountability among club members.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Club Sports Manager and other relevant university staff.
  • Abide by the University of Denver club coaching policies and guidelines.
  • Attend mandatory coach meetings with the Club Sports Manager and any other required trainings.

Minimum Certification Requirements

  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
  • CDC Heads Up Concussion Training Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Competitive and collegiate competition experience required pom and contemporary skills specifically
  • Choreography experience (would need to see samples of their work)
  • Provide effective feedback and tailor training programs to meet the unique needs of each athlete.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster team spirit motivate athletes and conflict resolution skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends based on the teams training and competition schedule.
  • Ability to coach from late August to the end of May (no coaching during summer or winter break).
  • Continued learner of the sport
  • Commit to a minimum of two practices each week (Sundays Mondays and/or Wednesday late evenings).

Hourly Range

The hourly range for this position is $20.00$22.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status
