Role Purpose:
The Modern Trade Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and executing the modern trade strategy to drive sales and market share within the retail and supermarket chains. Your primary focus will be on building strong relationships with key modern trade partners implementing promotional activities and ensuring the availability of products in modern trade outlets. This role requires a deep understanding of modern trade dynamics excellent negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive modern trade strategy aligned with sales and market share objectives.
- Identify growth opportunities within the modern trade channel and propose actionable strategies.
- Drive product penetration and promotional visibility across modern retail outlets.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with buyers category managers and decisionmakers at key modern trade accounts.
- Align company offerings with customer needs and negotiate mutually beneficial trade agreements.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and execute product promotions and instore marketing campaigns.
- Oversee product displays and ensure brand visibility within modern trade stores.
- Coordinate with supply chain and distribution teams to ensure optimal inventory levels and product availability across retail outlets.
- Monitor stock movement and address stockouts or overstock situations proactively.
- Lead negotiations on pricing terms and trade agreements with modern trade partners.
- Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and proper execution of agreements.
- Track market trends competitor activities and consumer behavior to inform strategy.
- Generate and analyze performance reports identifying areas for improvement and recommending changes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Marketing Business Administration or a related field. A MBA is an added advantage.
- At least 3 years of experience in modern trade sales management within the FMCG sector.
- Proven track record in managing key accounts and negotiating with major retail chains.
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with sales data reporting and performance metrics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and sales analytics tools.
- Willingness to travel to visit retail partners and outlets regularly.
- Strategic thinking and problemsolving ability.
- Good understanding of market dynamics in modern trade.
