Education Program Specialist
Department:Programming & Experience Education
Position Type:FullTime Temporary
Expected Start Date:July 2 2025
Contract End Date: August 26 2026
Hours: 35 per week

Who We Are:
Heritage Park is Canadas largest living history museum and offers visitors a chance to experience life in Western Canada from the 1860s to the early 1950s. The Park features historical buildings costumed interpreters working antiques and various exhibits that provide insight into the regions past.
Job Overview:
Under the guidance of the Education Manager the Education Program Specialist plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing diverse educational programs tailored to both adults and youth.
Responsibilities:
Program Development and Delivery
- Leads the daytoday coordination of educational youth and summer learning programs as well as adult education workshops
- Collaborates with other team members to develop new program initiatives and evaluates existing programs in alignment with departmental priorities and audience requirements
- Coordinates logistics and prepares materials and venues for programs ensuring seamless coordination with other Park departments
- Provides administrative support including managing bookings registrations payments and responding to program inquiries while also actively participating in program delivery
- Extends a warm welcome to groups and individual participants engaging with teachers parents and other stakeholders to ensure a positive experience
- Assists in the recruitment of seasonal/casual staff including Lead Hands
- Oversees the comprehensive training scheduling and attentive supervision of seasonal/casual staff guaranteeing the seamless execution of programs with efficiency
- Supervising and monitoring the workflow of seasonal/casual staff including delegating duties and providing feedback
- Provides ongoing mentoring and coaching to seasonal/casual staff fostering their professional growth and ensuring high standards of performance in program delivery
- Liaises with the Marketing team to promote and market educational programs to attract participants and increase awareness of program offerings at the Park
- Perform other duties as required
Organizational Excellence and Wellbeing
- Contribute to inspiring and immersive experiences at the Park through your roles and responsibilities by engaging in Heritage Park initiatives that align with the overall mission and vision of the Park
- Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety by complying with Heritage Parks Health Safety and Environment Management System (HSEMS) following safe work practices reporting workrelated incidents injuries and hazards participating in employer training and adhering policies including the Code of Conduct and the Workplace Violence and Harassment Policy
- Actively support a positive work environment through creating an atmosphere of inclusion engagement and fulfillment in line with Heritage Park values
- Demonstrate responsible stewardship of our people collections and financial assets by ensuring that they are handled with integrity sustainability and a focus on longterm benefits for the organization and its stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
- PostSecondary Education in Education History or a related field is required
- Minimum 2 years experience teaching in a museum or classroom environment as well as experiential learning experience is required
- Minimum of 1 years prior experience as a project/team lead or supervisor is required
- A valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification is an asset
- Ability to think creatively and develop innovative educational programs that appeal to diverse audiences is essential
- Strong research skills including the ability to gather analyze and synthesize information from various sources
- Demonstrated interest and knowledge of the history of Western Canada and Alberta
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as interpretation skills are necessary for effectively communicating educational concepts and objectives to various audiences
- Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fastpaced environment
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a clientfaced setting
- All successful candidates (over the age of 18) will be required to go through a Police Information Check as a condition of employment.
